Purpose Statement
The Francis Howell School District is committed to recruiting and retaining high-quality staff who are dedicated to creating a positive, student-centered learning environment. The Educational Support Counselor provides comprehensive counseling services to support students\" academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to students
- Support students and families through crisis intervention and case management
- Conduct individual and/or family assessments
- Collaborate with school staff and outside agencies to support student needs
- Utilize trauma-informed practices and promote positive, restorative approaches
- Assist in connecting families with community resources and services
- Maintain knowledge of school law, policies, and special education processes
Job Requirements
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and family dynamics
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and effective counseling interventions
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Skilled in collaboration, communication, and problem-solving
- Experience with trauma-informed practices and alternatives to exclusionary discipline
Education and Experience
- Master\"s degree required
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required
- Previous experience in counseling or social work with children required
- School-based experience preferred

Additional compensation includes:
- $2,500 annual stipend for after-hours support, consultation, and licensure maintenance
