Come be a part of our award-winning, nationally accredited Parks and Recreation team! There are a variety of Parks and Facility Maintenance opportunities within the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. Explore the possibilities below and make your selections within the application.
It takes a lot to maintain all 105 Springfield-Greene County Park Board locations, ranging from neighborhood parks, multi-use recreational facilities, natural resource areas, special use facilities and aquatic facilities. Our departmental maintenance staff work daily to contribute to the care and beautification of over 3,200 acres of park property. You will find maintenance staff in all divisions of the award-winning park system. Every year the Park Board hires seasonal and temporary staff to assist in making all facets of the operation function. This extra help is key in the delivery of all the programs that are offered, most of which occur in the spring, summer and fall.
The Park Operations division is the primary division within Parks dedicated to the maintenance and upkeep of our neighborhood and regional parks, athletic facilities and aquatic facilities. You will find Park Operations staff maintaining our pools, ball fields, trails, structures, pavilions, playground equipment, trees, botanical gardens, and more. Many opportunities are available within the division for candidates that already possess relevant skills and experience as well as those just starting out that are willing work hard and want to learn new skills.
Maintenance staff can also be found at other Park Board locations including family centers, the Dickerson Park Zoo, Jordan Valley Park and Ice Park, and special facilities like Rutledge Wilson Farm Park, Lake Springfield Park, Valley Water Mill Equestrian Center, and more. A variety of positions are available for people interested in making a positive contribution to our amazing parks system!
- Grounds Maintenance: Landscaping, planting, propagating and maintaining shrubs, flowers, and trees in parks. Mowing, weed-eating, and edging with various equipment; may include tree care equipment. Picking up trash, cleaning restrooms, and other basic park maintenance duties as needed.

- Pool Maintenance: Clean bathhouses and vacuum pools at various outdoor pools. Assists in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of pool locations.
- General Construction: Assist team members in the construction and maintenance of Park facilities throughout the system. Operate a variety of trucks and equipment as needed.
- Turf and Ball Field Maintenance: Mowing, weed-eating, maintenance and preparation of sports fields at various athletic complexes.
- General Labor: Picking up trash, cleaning restrooms, and other basic park maintenance duties.
- Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
- Entry level position, no experience is required.
PREFERRED- Depending on the assignment, specific knowledge of proper equipment use.
Licensing/Certification- If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
